WTF?!?!?

I just don't think the internet is even trying anymore

As some know, a large storm is currently hitting my town. Really high winds. These are the kind of winds where satellite dishes get moved just enough so that the Superbowl may not be viewable tomorrow from the house.

That being said, I went to look at the local forecast.

What drives me nuts is the add above the Doppler Radar for a matching service.

Hi, you're someone who's come to our site looking for the weather. It might be rainy. So while your stuck at home.. why don't we offer one of our partners to help you find a date.

HUH?

DIdn't there used to be a process where the advertising fit the target audience? Gaah!

You know those fancy internet technologies today. They're tracking you all over the web. I'm sure this is just indicative of all those *other* websites you go visit. ;)

Hey now, even lonely people need to see the weather!

I have the same issue with earthlink, my old ISP (which I still use for my primary email account). In the web email client, they are adding increasingly flashing, decreasingly relevant ads. All the while, they are spending zero effort improving their anti-spam filter. And I pay for the service.

Of course there is. Unfortunately, many advertisers and publishers have a lot of investment in placing non-relevant ads. Advertising is still a very inefficient market.
