MOVIES: I've reactivated Netflix

So, I've gone and re-activated Netflix. The selection has gotten to the point where I really can feel comfortable trying a disc before I go add it to the collection.

So, I'm curious if you use Netflix, what you think, and if you'd like me to add you to the Netflix friend thing to exchange queues and recommendations.

I use blockbuster online instead. They are a few dollars cheaper and let you have 3 movies at a time (does NetFlix only let you have 2?). Also they e-mail you coupons every month for two free rentals at you local Blockbuster store, so technically you can have 5 movies out at a time per month -- all for less money than NetFlix. The local store coupons are great for those occasions when you have company and decide you'd all like to rent a movie for the night, so you don't have to wait a day or two for it to be mailed to you.

The problem with Netflix is that they say "We have virtually every DVD published" -- NOT! They don't carry any "adult" content, which represents the majority of video produced on the planet. Blockbuster is the same way. These companies have conservative religious agendas which promote censorship and stifle sexual freedom.

A good alternative is GreenCine which really does carry a broad selection - including adult titles, independent and alternative films, cult classics, and 3x more anime than any of the others. And the pricing is the same as Netflix.

Hmm. I'll have to go back and look at my rental record -- I'm reasonably sure I've gotten some adult titles (or, certainly, lots of soft porn) from them.

Did I just say that outloud? Sheesh!

there's also greencine, apparently. netflix is owned by evil walmart. i started with them before i found this out, though. i may wait to hear more about greencine before i decide whether or not to switch.
