the long day. continued

Today I have the unenviable task of calling the funeral home. My sister has told me that I must call up to authorize father's cremation. This is also a big no-no in Judaism. I am going to call the place where the rest of his family is buried to see if this will cause problems.

This should cause my mother to freak beyond measure.

Sadly, I find this a good thing.

Since your sister obviously has opinions on the subject, and she is presumably just as related to your father as you are, why can't *she* deal with this stuff? Why do you have to do it long-distance?

First,

My deepest condolences on the loss of your dad.

Second,

Judiaism (I know I spelled it wrong) does not necessarily frown on cremation. It is only when cremation is expressly not the choice of the decedent,or the family. Since your mom is no longer his wife, your wishes, and the wishes of your father are more important.

Sometimes you actually learn things in a temple

I am so terribly sorry, Greg.
