Strange personal annoyances

Just spoke to a person on the phone to make a doctor's appointment. Person had that gravelly, "I need to clear my throat" sound. This always bothers me in a voice. It actually makes me cringe. I have no idea why.

And yes, for the record. I really don't like, "Betty Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes or most of Rod Stewart or Bruce Springstein.
