Still shaking the last vestiges of June-Goo '08. Tues/Thurs was the worst of this infestation. Which was really weird because I was utterly down for the count both days yet was functional in the office on Wednesday. Very weird. Despite my hatred of the growing police state we live in, I signed away my life for some Pseudophedrine. The only think that kicks the crap out of severe congestion and flu for me. The reason you have to sign for it now, is because some morons decided it was a great substance with which to make methamphetimines. And since the current US government treats its people as more likely to commit a crime than be honest, the drugs are no longer over the counter. Amphetamines were known by another term in the 70s. Speed. Pseudophedrine is in fact related to amphetamines. Which leads me back to this post. We got in from Avenue Q last night around 11:30. I pretty much fell over in exhaustion congested to the back of my head at midnight. But not before taking to Pseudophedrine. At about 2:45 I woke up. Jittery and WIDE AWAKE. This is not going to be very conducive for the rest of my day or weekend. I'm solo parenting "a" this afternoon and evening while "H" does mass. I obviously must be awake and focussed. This is humous while I sit here on a Saturday before 6am scratching at the feeling of the hair on my arms because I feel slightly like a strung out junky. I suppose the good side of this is that I only get this wired on the stuff when it's reaching the end of its usefulness. Translation: If I take it easy today (and its a non-work day) I should be healthy by the time I go to sleep. This would be exceedingly good because the mantra I have this weekend is, "When I awake tomorrow, Grecian travelers will be en route home." Got to sleep around 10pm last night. Got up around 6:30. Granted... these times are now eastern. Which means my body gave out at 7pm and yanked me awake at 3:30 this morning. We still have heard nothing from the airport concerning our Wardrobe. This has out formal clothes for the Notocon Banquet, my long sleeve ruffly shirts, and most importantly our Poi. The latter of the which sucks because we were thinking of spinning on the Maine shore this morning. Maine? Yesterday after getting in, We went to JP to visit with queenofhalves then off to Cambridge to Lunch with motive_nuance back to JP to pick up my travel file. Then off to dinner with jnanacandra's Uncle and then off to crash in Maine with tailerouge. Due to scheduling the tattoo work for jnanacandra from deanocturne should occur today. Today we're headed back towards Salem for Notocon. Hopefully our missing luggage and the shipped artwork will be there. This evening is the Open house. Anyone at Noto looking to reach me can txt my cell. It is again charged and the texting should be working :) If you don't have my cell: You can send me a text message via the link from my LJ profile. Please remember to include your cell phone # for return text msgs or at least an email you can readily check :) In other news... I have tried the Facebook and found it to be a 'Good Thing'&trade My initial reservations were that it required you to be in one of its recognized networks. But this was my misunderstanding of the interface. I am unhappy that region networks are limited to Seattle, Bellevue, and (I think Bothell)... You'd think Redmond and Everett would be listed. But other than that, I like the extensibility. Lots of things you can do with it beyond the default, and with effort lots of things you can add to it. So at this point.. I'd like to invite as many readers as possible to go sign onto Face Book. ( http://www.facebook.com) i don't get any credit for promoting it... But I definitely want to see what the environment is like with more people in my network. (Please note: I am only adding people that I know already. If I've met you online only through LJ, that's OK. People discovering me for the first time in FaceBook... not so much.) Tags: contact, notocon, travel Current Mood: tired

Our flight out was supposed to be first from Seattle to Las Vegas and then onto Boston on a RedEye. I'd thought the Vegas layover was 2 hrs. In fact it was one hour. The Vegas flight is delayed. Therefore... we've been magickally transported to a direct flight on Alaska. Sounds great, huh? Not so much. Now we're in the airport for another 3 hrs. (Fortunately, i have Board Room membership.. So at least the drinks and wifi will be free.) But the real pain is getting seating at the last moment. There are 3 of us flying not counting the baby. We had seats together on USAir. Now... Now we are 3 rows apart each for 5 hours. Hopefully the gate person will be able to assist us. Not pleased. Tags: airlines, notocon, travel Current Mood: annoyed

It is now 10 am... It should be 7am and at home it is 7am. Airlines have crunched down connection times to 40 minutes. In order to get planes in and out. The problem with this that you are certain not to make your connection if anything goes wrong. While they were pushing our flight out of the JFK gate last evening (heading to Boston, where I'd connect back to seattle)... Something 'went wrong.' Basically, some kind of nose shielding was damaged. The plane had been rolled about 25 feet back. Then paused. Then they told us that something had gone wrong in 'push back' and they were going to roll us back into the gate to assess. The thing was 'easy to fix' if they had the part. 10 minutes later we were deplaned. While annoying this is a good thing. Especially considering what happened to Alaska flight 536 less than 4 months ago. So... we waited. There were 14 of us on the flight from JFK to Boston that were hoping to make the quick connection to Seattle. We were told there was a window that they could delay the other flight. Basically, if we boarded the Boston flight, that means we made it in time to catch the delayed flight. After about an hour we were sitting on the Boston flight getting ready to "push back." So it seemed like they'd delayed the BOS/SEA flight. The cabin doors were closed and then the announcement came on. "We will be unable to delay the Seattle flight. Will all people connecting thru to Seattle please deplane at this time" Seattle folks were told they would be put up in a hotel near JFK for the night. Now, I'm the product of a mixed marriage. My father was from Brooklyn and my mother was from the Bronx. They may not have agreed on much, but the one thing I learned is that you don't stay in Queens, if you don't have to. I was at the conference and in NY with my S.O. from Boston. I asked if I could travel thru to Boston and get re-ticketed from there. They said, sure. Since I'm not having to have accommodations, the upside of this adventure is that I have been granted a voucher for one free Boston to Seattle one-way ticket to make up for this chaos. We were too damned tired to try to make our way through the Boston Light Rail. We got down to the cab line and a limo driver said, "Spare Limo... same price as a cab." You see this a lot in Vegas. Basically, there was a no show or a late flight. The limo is authorised to pull cab passengers as long as they charge the cab rate. I don't know why more people don't take advantage of this. While you pay the same rate you'd get in a cab. You get the Limo treatment. The car is of top notch quality, the driver opens doors carries bags to the door. So.. we at least got to ride in style. I explained what happened and he offered to bring me back to the airport for my flight today. (Which will come back to bite me shortly in the story) Last night at about 11:45 I trudged into my S.O.'s house. Her husband was wonderful as he made me pasta and meat sauce. I contacted a local friend to make lunch arrangements. I did some computer catch up and crashed. We were awoken to the sound of husband growling. My cell phone went off at 6:10am and proceeded to keep getting called back every 2 minutes. I looked at the phone number. Metro Boston. Who in the hell would be calling me from Metro Boston at 6:10am? Oh. I called the number. "Hi is this the Limo company." "Yes sir." "Yes, that was 6:20 PM pick up" Nice thing about Limo companies is rule 1. Always treat the customer like you want nothing more than to kiss their ass. They were VERY pleasant and apologetic. I will call them mid day to make sure they are still actually picking me up. So, as a result, instead of getting home at midnight yesterday... My luggage should be making the trip from JFK to Seattle and getting there around 10:30 pm. I will be flying on the same flight tonight as it's the only one they have. So I'll be in at midnight tonight. Shortly I leave for my lunch, um... date? More on the awesome weekend soon! Now I must email my director about missing another rehearsal. :-p TCTC #24p2, 4-9-06 - Thelema Coast to CoastTags: arrgh, connections, delay, travel Current Mood: quixotic
